The Corpse and the Killer

The Cry of a Burnt Heart

How much more burning must I endure, Lord?
If You have written happiness upon my fate,
then bathe me in waters of peace and cool me.
And if You have not written happiness upon my fate,
then burn me at once and erase me into nonexistence.

How Much Is Saved

At nothing you lose your patience,
at the slightest thing you wish for death.
Is the grave your relative, Khubayb?
How much wealth have you saved to take with you?
Is your earning enough for the grave?
With so little, will you be able to bribe the grave into agreement?

Because We Are Fools

They bind the heart with care,
then shatter it with blows of words.
They build relationships with affection,
then break them again with neglect.
They show love once more,
and once more we give ourselves away.
Knowing we will burn again, why do we return?
Because we are fools, we drink poison trusting deeply.

Air

When trust breaks, a person becomes air.
The one deceived by boundless trust,
may no longer be seen before the eyes.
Yet others will know he exists,
they will feel his true presence.

Fate and Decision

I know fate is not in our hands.
Yet God Almighty has given us the power to decide,
we can choose our own good and bad.
After that, even if fate does not approve, it may be accepted.
But you, though you said with your lips you would be mine,
you never had any intention of being mine.
You are passing this off as fate as well.
You say, it is fate’s fault that you could not be mine.

The Bait of Distance

Pride is fine. But do you know,
neglect in the name of pride kills relationships.
If pride arises, return to this chest,
one should not stay away from home for long.
Otherwise the home falls under the grip of weeds.
And if this is bait for your distance,
then go, leave.
Tell me, how long more will you keep me in neglect?

Examination Center

Where shall I take you, Khubayb?
You show me such a place,
where sorrow has never reached.
Show me a place on this earth,
where people live in complete happiness.
You know, you understand,
yet still you refuse to accept, you are terribly disobedient.
You do not want to accept that this entire world
is a vast examination center.
One does not come to an exam hall to seek peace,
nor to seek light, air or air-conditioning.

You Did Not Look Back

So many restrictions, so many insults, so much pain.
Even after so much neglect, I loved you.
For so many days I burned in the fire of love,
again night after night I searched for you.
You knew that all this burning of mine was for you,
and again, you alone were my happiness.
Yet even seeing my agony, you did not look back.

The Corpse and the Killer

An enchantress has fled, tearing the heart from the chest.
A huge hole in the corpse’s chest,
through the hole flows melted love.
Again the corpse wants to rest its head on the killer’s chest.
The corpse does not know, there is no love in the killer’s chest.
The corpse wants to kiss the killer’s forehead,
yet written clearly on that forehead, betrayer.

Lost

I thought they would remember me.
They would feel my emptiness, my absence.
But when I went into hiding from everyone,
I saw that none of them had lost me.
To no one did it feel that someone was no longer there.
Rather, I myself lost a worldful of people.
