Financial Crisis
So perhaps you thought you carried no stigma.
But you never once thought —
a man’s greatest stigma is financial crisis.
Without financial crisis there is no sin of a man
for which he can be cast out from anything.
Fate and the Heart
What the heart chose was not accepted by fate.
Even today her image remains the heart’s sustenance,
the one whom fate did not write as its own.
Whether clear or merely inferred,
the heart does not heed even fate’s rejection.
The Worth of Love
One day you will return, breaking through the wall of pride.
You too will understand that the worth of love stands above the worth of pride.
As on every day, at some twilight hour I will wait for the sunset,
and you will come from behind and hold me.
I will wait for you there every day in that way,
as Israfil stands, ready to blow the trumpet.
Eternal Memory
By the measure of time we were together for very little while,
yet in that briefness we created memories made eternal.
However many days remain in our lives,
even if we are given a chance beyond our time —
we will not finish reliving those memories,
nor will we finish counting them.
One Spell for All People
All the people I have seen carried the same spell.
Everyone said, not all people are the same.
Yet when I perceived them directly,
I found no difference.
In everyone I observed the worship of self-interest.
I have seen that to be human is to be the same.
If someone tries to prove himself different,
I feel he is trying to prove
that he is some other creature, not a human.
The Cycle of Sacrificers Receiving Neglect
Sacrifice and neglect are complementary to each other.
The more you sacrifice yourself for someone,
the more worthless you become to that person.
The sharper your sacrifice for them,
the equally sharper their neglect of you.
This applies to you as well in the case of the person
who sacrifices himself for you.
The one who is sacrificing for you,
you too neglect him.
The Difference Between a Woman’s and a Man’s Love
A woman may change after receiving love, but a man changes before receiving love. After loving a woman, after she becomes his, she may then do what he likes, ignoring what he dislikes. But in a man’s case, this happens before love is received. Before he even comes to you, hoping that you will love him, he tries to become what you like and avoids what you dislike. For a woman, it matters whether the man loves her or not. But for a man, it is enough that he himself can love. Whether the other person loves him or not does not matter. A man does not love by calculating love in return. Here lies the infinite, eternal difference between a man’s and a woman’s love.
Could Not Hold On
In a voice breaking with sobs I had said,
do not leave, stay as mine in this one life.
Yet you did not hear my plea behind the roar of clouds.
I had said,
even against one’s will, many things must be accepted,
this is the creed of being born human.
You loved me by choice, today perhaps you do not.
Even if unwilling, stay as mine.
Yet my tears, dissolving into the rain, did not reach your sight.
So in the end, I had no strength left to hold you.
Minor Character
After so long in love I realized,
even being yours, I am as though I am no one.
All this time living upon this earth, I felt,
I am not very important to the world either.
You or the world,
in both places I am a minor character used for the sake of the story.
Beauty and Humanity
You may lose in the contest of beauty,
but that is not the final loss.
When you lose in the contest of humanity,
when you do not allow the hidden human within you to come out,
that is the ultimate defeat.
And on this earth, those who lose in beauty are many,
but those who lose to humanity are even more.
