Poem: Question Mark - 3

Alright then, forget all those tales of miracles.
Suppose someone says,
When you speak, it echoes through his heart in melody,
Would you not say a word then, tell me woman?
Suppose someone says,
When you smile, he no longer looks at the moon,
Fearing he might lose the chance to see your smile again,
Would you not smile then, tell me beautiful one?
And if someone says,
When he rests his head upon your chest,
He forgets every burden of sorrow,
Would you not grant him that solace, tell me heart-stealer?

Suppose someone desires you,
With the same intensity as a hungry orphan seeks a plate of rice,
Or as a toothless man cherishes a single tooth.
As the parched soul longs for the soothing touch of water,
So does he long for your touch to hold your hand.
Would you turn away his desperate devotion, his entire plea?

Suppose someone searches for you on his days of despair,
Saying he falls terribly ill without you.
Saying you are the only resident that your reign rules his heart.
That he’s built within it a grand palace of love,
His heart a vast little town.
Suppose he says further,
That from this cruel world he receives only pain,
Yet only your love can bring him healing.
Or that to call someone “mine,”
You alone remain his only possession.
Would you still send him away?
Or would you become his one and only,
For the rest of his life?
