Living Corpse
My soul had died long ago,
I’m just lying here on earth as a breathing corpse.
Be patient, O my kin, even the life will soon depart,
you’ll know the breathing has ceased.
Even the person who used to bother me seeking company will fall silent,
the one you cruelly broke by giving repeated assurances.
You won’t be able to hold back that day, by any worldly bond.
Bury my burnt body,
there, under the silk-cotton tree beside the house.
Maze of Illusion
I willingly got trapped in that very maze of illusion,
even knowing defeat there was certain.
Afterward, it no longer suits to regret losing,
nor to lament betrayal,
even if that betrayer be the dearest one.
Exiled Heart
You have an exiled heart, Khubayb.
The one whose absence leaves your exiled heart lightless,
whose illusion drowns and destroys you day and night.
Does she even care for you?
That radiant star who lives in fullness,
destroying your body and soul,
yet smiling in satisfaction without even caring for your heart.
Pretending to Be Mute
Does a person stay silent for no reason?
When feelings lose their value, one must become unspoken!
Even when trying to speak, the mouth gets sealed,
words that reach the throat fall back into the belly,
the mind lingers,
trapped in the thought that my words might hurt someone else,
then the person, while trying to speak, pretends to be mute.
Excuse to Break
She only needed one excuse to break me.
And I had said, in this heart reigns only you,
no one else resides here but you.
Then, in the name of verifying the truth,
she shattered my heart to see for herself.
