Poem: Hatred

A thirst burns in my chest to hear you,
my eyes dry from longing to see you.
Still I do not want us to meet again,
today I hate you more than I love you.

Let my heart be split to four,
or let my eyes feel the sting of pouring lava.
Let that pain remain only with me,
please, do not come back into the turnings of my life.

You poisoned my soul with deceit,
imprisoned my being in a cage of false promises.
You left me a living corpse,
breath remains, the pulse is there,
yet I have learned how a person can burn alive and die within.

Take with you the light of your happiness,
that happiness you told me about and then left behind.
I remain in the silent dark.
Go, be well far away, far from me.
Never again come into my life’s path.

I claim nothing, I crave nothing,
only this truth, someone broke a promise and betrayed me.
Among the ruins of love’s shattered image,
all that remains for me now is hatred for you.
