Poem: Be Human

I was told,
“Be a human, go to school, here take these books.”
And a sudden question rose in my mind,
Then who am I? Am I not already human?

Childhood and youth passed, chasing the dream of becoming human,
Yet I found that even they were not truly human,
Spending themselves only on the dream of being established.

And I wondered more,
Those who sent me to school with advice to be human,
They too were not human,
Educated, yes but inhuman at heart.
So I asked myself,
Why is this so-called noble society filled with schools,
Where more beasts wear the mask of men,
And good humans are as rare as rain in the dry months of Chaitra?

If training alone could make one human,
Then why are there so many inhuman souls in this world,
Those unafraid of deceiving others,
As if even death itself could not touch them?

There is no school that creates the inhuman, no institution for it,
Yet endless effort is spent trying to make humans.
But one becomes human only,
When the will to embrace humanity lives within.

So accept this truth at last,
Greater than school’s lessons is the teaching of the heart.
Therefore, instead of chasing high degrees,
Build a beautiful mind.
