Atheist and Theist

What did I find, when I lost you at last?
The Light of my Creator, freedom from false past.
In the shadows of fana, I stayed confined,
Blinded I was, by love’s design.

You were but a fleeting mirage of this earth,
In a moment’s spell, I forgot my birth.
Who had created me, Who holds the Throne so high?
Lost in your love, I turned a blind eye.
I forgot the love of my Creator so deep,
The Books He revealed to guide His sheep.

I still recall that wretched day,
When in your pain I turned His way.
Pointed my finger at Him and cried,
“Why give me this love, if no joy’s by my side?”
For creation’s sake I opposed the Creator’s hand,
How weak was my faith, how frail my stand!

So Allah removed the shadow of you,
Showed me the Truth, broke the false view.
On the dust of sujood my weary eyes bled,
Till the flame of faith was lit instead.

In the night’s darkness came a call so near,
“La Ilaha Illallah” revived my shattered sphere.
Every tear I shed became a prayer,
Till His guidance returned, beyond despair.

You were gone, but I found the soul’s light.
Through the fire of loss, my Creator gave me right.
You were a trial, but He is release.
In Him I discovered the soul’s true peace.

Now I know, when Allah gives then takes away,
It’s never a mistake, but a hidden way.
As if He tells me: “Leave Me then where will you go?
Without My shore, no harbor you’ll know.”
The love of man can make one atheist,
But the love of the Lord conceals the true theist.
