Favorite Toy
I asked her,
why, out of everything in this world, did you choose my heart?
Why did you break me playfully?
She answered,
you have many toys,
and among them there is one you like the most.
Of course you will play with the toy you like the most?
Illusion
They said, when you love, you must bow.
Those who can bow find fulfillment at last.
But I saw,
one who intends to leave will leave,
no matter how much you love or value them.
All those moral teachings people preach are mere illusions.
The Bird Searching for a Better Nest
Someone who feels happy even while avoiding me,
I have no right to disturb them.
If a bird hides from me,
I must understand, it has found a better nest somewhere else.
I have no right to stop it from going there,
no right to tie it to me by force.
Affection vs Infatuation
How enduring, how destructive human affection can be,
I would not have understood without falling into yours.
How short-lived human infatuation is,
if your infatuation for me had not faded,
if you had not left me, I would not have understood that either.
Hard Times
When a devastating storm raged in my chest,
when fierce waves roared in my sea of life.
Khubayb, will you remember?
No one stood beside you in your hard times.
You Are Mine
The amount of contempt you have for me,
not even a vulture has that much hatred for the soul of a dead cow.
Yet when you come and stand before me,
when you look at me and smile a little,
it feels as though you are completely mine.
Doomsday of Love
When not even a single trustworthy person is found on earth,
then the sun will rise from the west.
After that, no one’s prayers will be accepted.
And then? Destruction, doomsday!
Likewise, the day the last drop of my love for you ends,
that day I will rise in the opposite direction in your sky.
After that, no pleading of yours will bring me back.
And then? The destruction of love, the doomsday of love.
Soundless Pain
One who can scream,
people think their pain is deeper.
But the soundless pain that shatters one from within,
no one knows, no one cares.
Is It Our Fault
Even after wanting them so much, we don’t get them,
yet we think about them our whole life.
The mind grows exhausted thinking of them,
while they don’t even remember our name.
Their behavior becomes such that
it seems they never even knew someone by this name.
If forgetting were truly this easy,
then is it our fault? Why can’t we do it?
Self-Seeking Nature
A diamond must be cut with a diamond,
this you had mastered very well.
I trusted you,
and you acted like the untrustworthy.
Yet in the end, you revealed your true self-seeking nature.
The heart that trusted you,
you succeeded in breaking that heart too.
